The Nigerian Stock Exchange is pleased to announce the commencement of the 2013 edition of the NSE Essay Competition for secondary schools in Nigeria, themed “Building a Sustainable Capital Market”.

Over the years, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Essay Competition inspires thousands of young people across Nigeria to showcase their practical knowledge of financial and capital market concepts learned in the classroom. The competition’s overall goal is to develop a culture of wealth creation amongst our youth – ‘Catching Them Young’.

This competition has been in operation since 2000 and has had over 10,000 entries from young writers in over 500 schools across Nigeria.

From 2013, the structure of the competition has been upgraded in order to engage more young people in our operating environment. The competition is now targeted only at Senior Secondary School students and to reflect the new focus, the nomenclature has been modified to “NSE Essay Competition – Building a Financially Savvy Generation”.

The Capital Market plays an important role in facilitating the process of economic growth in Nigeria. Discuss.
